A Forster’s Tern in all its glory. So fine. I tell my friends who want to distinguish gulls from terns to look for the birds that look like they were made with an exacto knife.
It seems odd to me that only one tern has been singled out for the name Elegant. Better for the whole family to get the name but, if not, then they should consider renaming the others Graceful, Lovely, Ethereal et al.
I have no trouble recognizing terns from gulls but I sometimes have trouble telling some of the terns apart from each other, as well as some of the gulls. pretty picture by the way I just love sea birds most of all they are graceful, nosiy and I just love water too a great combo too.
