Disturbed by Crows

Waking up when you should be sleeping is never fun. This Great Horned Owl calls to its partner who responds through the cacophony of mobbing crows. Eventually the corvids gave up and silence returned to the trees. The two owls ended up perched side by side in an unphotographable spot and stopped hooting.

Glad to hear the crows can be discouraged at times. They harass the red shouldered hawks here in Homestead Valley and I wonder that the hawks ever manage to fledge any
young.

Yes, I’ve seen them mobbing hawks at Twin Peaks the other day – about half a dozen crows chasing two red-tails. Glad these GHOs got some peace!
