Love your work, Walter – and often share it. Where are you based? You seem to be everywhere! Bobbie in Ireland

Here is a crazy Salamander story…
back in the late 70′s my bf and i went up into the santa cruz mts. where i came across some red salamanders. so like a dumb youngun, i thought i’d take them home and make them pets. i did have an aquarium for them and made them a nice home. the next morning i went into the bathroom to shower where my mom was getting ready for work. as i was combing my hair i got a big knot in it… it was a dead salamander!!! not only 1, but both of them had crawled in my bed and into my hair and died! my mom and i screamed and i wanted to remove my head. it was difficult to remove them. so random. so bizarre!

Great stuff, Walter. Sometimes a park is the best place to see such things. I’ve only seen newt eggs in the wild once, and it was only one batch, not several.
